The city sits roughly 39 miles north of Columbus and 67 miles southwest of Atlanta, placing it within driving range of both metro areas. The CSX rail line through town carries freight but no passenger service. State and county roads connect Manchester to Warm Springs, Greenville, and the surrounding Meriwether and Talbot county countryside.

Manchester's signature attraction is its rail fan observation deck, which overlooks the active CSX yard and gives train watchers a front-row view; the annual Railroad Days celebration each October builds on that theme. Warm Springs, with the Little White House State Historic Site, lies four miles away and anchors the area's tourism. Nearby Callaway Gardens and F.D. Roosevelt State Park offer gardens, trails, and outdoor recreation, while local parks and school fields serve daily recreation.
